Internet Addiction - More Powerful Than Drugs

Internet Addiction

Young people are spending much more time infront of the computer screen, than outside.
Younsters prefer to stay at home and browse the Internet. They don't anymore like to go out and take a walk in the park or play some sport.

Is Internet becoming more powerful addiction than the drugs?
Look at the answers in the article - they're based on statistical researches and young people's opinion.

The Effects of Internet Addiction

From 2002 until today the number of young people, using drug and tobacco products is reducing, the expense of increasing addiction to the Internet and electronic games, a survey of Brussels Free University.

For the past nine years, declining by six per cent of young people who smoke every day - from 18,7 percent to 12,7 percent. In 2002, eight out of every 100 youths said they smoked marijuana at least once a week and recently gave a similar response to 4,9 per cent of respondents. When ecstasy users also experience a change - from 5,3% nine years ago to 2,7 percent last year.

According to sociologist Damien Fravres, these data can be explained by increased parental control over young people who have come out less at night. So basically they are spending more time in their rooms, sitting at the computer. The survey reported that while in 2002 only seven percent of young people said they spend at least four hours daily in front of the computer, the latest data show an increase of nearly double those responses - 13%.

The survey was conducted among 12 000 young people aged between 12 and 20 years.

Are We Being Held in Chains by the Internet?

Yes, I think that computers and Internet are very useful. But we should not overdo anything.

It's true that most of the youths are spending they time in Internet social network, than going outside with friends and talk face to face.

7 Ways To Look Younger Using Makeup

Do you want to discover the fountain of youth? No, I don't talk about plastic surgeries. Follow these easy steps that will make you look younger! The only thing that you need is makeup.

1. Don't use powder
As we age, we lose the natural glow of the skin. Applying powder can make the skin too matte or dull, it can even make it look cakey. Instead of face powder you can use liquid foundations or tinted moisturizers, they won't make your skin too matte, because they allow the skin to shine through.

2. Use creamy pink blush
Powder blush can also dull the skin, applying cream blush gives a nice glow to the cheeks. The pink color adds a nice flush to the cheeks that gives fresh and youthful appearance.

3. Conceal dark circles
Weather it's the age or the lack of sleep that's giving you dark circles under your eyes, hiding them with a concealer will immediately make you look fresher. The trick is to apply a peach or coral concealer first, that will counteract the blueness of the dark shadows. Secondly, applying as a top layer a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin, that will brighten the area and will give you a nice youthful look.

4. Apply mascara
Curling your lashes and then applying a mascara will make your eyes look big and fresh. Making your eyes appear larger and more open is a great way to make you look younger. The best way to acomplish that - curl your lashes and apply 1-2 coats of mascara.

5. Wing your liner
Getting that droopiness to the eyelids is another change that happens as we age, but bringing your eyeliner up and out will help lift the eyes. Take a bent liner brush and some gel liner, apply along the upper lashline and wing it up on the outer edge of the eyes.

6. Wear plumping lipgloss
Making the lips look full and glossy is another way to look young and green, plus the lipgloss makes the lips look very sexy and kissable. Avoid dark shades, because that can make the lips look smaller.

7. Use light shimmer shadow
Applying a light colored shimmery shadow near the tear duct and just under the brows will brighten your eyes and make you look more awake. The key is to not wear shimmery shadow all over the eyes. You should apply it just near the tear duct and under the brows.

Lets not forget that the real thing that makes us look youthful, healthy and fresh is the way we threat our selves. Eat healthy food and exercise, thats the key to youth.

Case of Young Man Tied to Wall Sparks National Debate in Netherlands

A Dutch documentary about a mentally ill and potentially dangerous 18-year-old has prompted lawmakers in the Netherlands -- amid national outrage -- to re-examine the treatment of those in psychiatric care.

The documentary, which was produced by the Lutheran-run Evangelical Broadcasting Company and aired on public television Tuesday, followed Brandon van Ingen, a patient at a mental hospital in Ermelo. Since 2007, van Ingen has spent part of his days tethered to a wall due to the danger he poses to others, according to
State Secretary for Public Health Marlies Veldhuijzen van Zanten-Hyllner.

"Brandon's issue is so serious that he must be restricted in his freedom for the sake of his own safety and that of others," van Zanten-Hyllner wrote in a letter to parliament. "Because of this, Brandon consistently makes use of a band that he fastens himself when he is in the presence of his attendants and other visitors. Whenever there is no one present and at night, the band is loosened."

In response to the documentary, the country's political parties held emergency meetings Wednesday to discuss care for the mentally ill.
Van Zanten-Hyllner addressed those meetings, explaining that van Ingen's care was in line with rules for restraining mental health patients, but promised to examine whether a change is needed.
"The broadcast stirred me deeply," she wrote in the letter to parliament. "It is upsetting to see that such a young person, who has his life before him, has so little perspective for a better future."
Van Zanten-Hyllner noted that van Ingen, who apparently hears voices that tell him to do "bad and dangerous things," has his own apartment where he can move about freely.

The hospital is working on alternatives for van Ingen's care, van Zanten-Hyllner wrote, "and is undertaking constant efforts to improve the living situation."

The program "Outspoken" learned about Van Ingen's story from one of his caretakers at the hospital.
"I could no longer do these shifts," Iris Mourits said on the program. "Back-up shifts were OK, but being together with him in a room -- I think at some point he could sense that from the depths of my toes I could no longer see him on that leash."

Van Ingen's mother compared his care to that of a "caged animal."
"He feels like a dog on a line," she said.

Heerenloo hospital issued a statement Saturday assuring family members of those at the facility that van Ingen's case is an exceptional one and doesn't reflect the care the majority of patients receive.

Health care inspectors said Thursday that they would "investigate the cases in which freedom is taken away from patients similar to Brandon's situation."
Van Zanten-Hyllner said there are about 40 cases similar to van Ingen's in the Netherlands.
